County Wildlife Sites Group

Bluebell woodlandsThe County Wildlife Sites Group brings together partners from the Wildlife Trust, Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group, Natural England, Environment Agency, local authorities and the Environmental Records Centre. A Wildlife Sites Officer  (Jess Hatchett) is based at the Wildlife Trust Offices in Cambourne to advise landowners and to manage the wildlife sites system.

County Wildlife Sites (CWSs) are areas of land important for their wildlife. They include valuable semi-natural habitats such as ancient woodland, species-rich grasslands, wetlands, roadside verges, hedgerows and orchards. The habitats and species that live there flourish because of past management and many sites provide a refuge for rare or threatened plants and animals.
